Geocurve Ltd

Geocurve is a specialist surveying company who leads by innovation. We are combining traditional surveying techniques with modern techniques like mobile mapping, photogrammetry and Virtual Reality surveying techniques.
• Mobile Mapping Survey
This has transformed the way and speed we can capture accurate 3D data. Geocurve has not only purchased the first Leica Pegasus:Two Ultimate in Europe, but we also the first survey company to buy the Leica Pegasus Backpack. Geocurve is the first company in UK to own the Leica Pegasus Two and a Leica Pegasus Backpack.

5 reasons why Geocurve has chosen the market leading Pegasus II:

o Biggest USP - Pegasus allows for accurate 3D data capture without the need of installing control
o Accurate 3D measuring; directly from point cloud data, from oblique image or on oblique image using point cloud data in the back ground.
o relative accuracy of VUX-1HA is sub 5mm
o combine spherical image and colourised point cloud
o built in power supply- Pegasus2 internal battery works for 10 hours

Leica Pegasus:Two Ultimate

o Boat Mounted - This setup has two GPS antennas that allows for real time accurate data capture without the need for ground control
o Car Mounted - No need for ground control that allows for surveying without the need for traffic control.

Leica Pegasus Backpack

Pegasus Survey Benefits:

o No need to access the foreshore (boat mounted) while capturing accurate 3D data
o Due to being mobile, a speedier survey directly decreases risk
o Vehicle mounted P2U allows for accurate 3D data capture with no need for traffic control and no need for surveyors working on foot amongst live traffic
o It allows capturing data under overhangs and un-accessible areas that will be very risky to capture in any other way
o Due to speed and accuracy this method allows for repeatable surveys to support comparison between data sets.

• UAV Survey

Geocurve has a long-standing CAA Permission for Commercial Operations (PFCO) being the first company to obtain `Congested area Operation (OSC)`. Geocurve also has `Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS) for 1km at 650 feet ceiling height.
May 2018, we have recorded 7235 hours of commercial flying with zero reportable incidents, a proof of our professionalism and superior flying team.

Large Area UAV Survey Benefits?

o No need to manually access site except for marking out GCPs in safe accessible areas (if needed)
o Can capture up to 200ha in two hours without stopping site activities and/or moving plant
o Results can be much more accurate due to speed of survey (snapshot in time) although processing of data can still take a number of days
o A single geo-stitched image can be very useful for planning and also support site inductions
o The speed in which UAVs can be deployed means that projects can be actioned at short notice

What else can we offer?

o Using Near Infra-Red imagery, vegetation health can be assessed
o Thermal sensors are also available
o Shrouded drone for surveying confined spaces, capturing 4K video and Thermal under strong on-board LED lighting
• Land Survey
This forms the foundation of our services and a stable platform to innovate from. Combining 80year+ land surveying experience in our team with experience gained as setting out engineering and also multiple Civil engineering qualifications, we have built a professional and good reputation with our clients.

Types of Land Survey techniques utilised in the past:

o Topographic Surveying - Using traditional survey equipment like GPS Rovers, EDMs and Automatic Levels.
o Bathymetric Surveying - Geocurve regularly undertakes hydrographic surveys to profile river and lake beds as well as inshore coastal waters. Our data is used for hydraulic modelling, creating water volume calculations that are then used in flood level analysis. Other concerns include aggregate reserve estimates, volumetric calculations and beach profiling.
o We have a variety of onshore and offshore craft available, equipped with differential GPS, enabling the fast and accurate mapping of underwater topography.
o Remote Monitoring - Installing tilt sensors, crack sensors and distance sensors allows for remote monitoring critical structures for sub millimetre movement 24/7. Our sensors then reports back through a hub and 3/4G connectivity to our web portal, that allows graphs plotting and alarm triggers.

• VR Survey

Using UAV footage 3D models can be developed by georeferencing and stitching together many high-resolution images. This has widespread use for environmental and industrial applications. Until now this information has been displayed using 2D projections of 3D computer information. A recently developed pipeline has allowed the data to be imported into room scale Virtual Reality. This permits visualisation and identification in a way not possible before. The human in the loop can now also be used to identify and classify `real` data inside the virtual world, without being exposed to the hazards of the real one.
Virtual Reality is the future and the next exciting chapter for the survey industry. Geocurve believes this will transform the way we survey and also deliver data. Signing up to a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with University of Essex will allow us to develop this application and innovate solutions to satisfy our client`s needs.

Virtual Reality (VR) Surveying Benefits:

o No need to access dangerous or difficult to reach areas to inspect assets or make key decisions
o Office based VR inspections allow for more people to have an input without the risk and cost of multiple site visits
o VR inspections allow seamless comparisons between different surveys to help understand deterioration and change
o Re-visits to assets are free from weather and tide implications at zero H&S risk
o Working with `University of Essex` allows for continuous development
