Society for the Environment (SocEnv)
The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) is an umbrella body which licenses professional institutions to register their members as Chartered Environmentalists (CEnv) and Registered Environmental Technicians (REnvTech). Both are required to have demonstrated their skills, experience and knowledge of the environment and sustainability through peer assessment.
24 professional bodies are licensed to carry out these assessments for registering a CEnv, covering engineering, construction, environmental management, ecology, environmental sciences, agriculture, fisheries, water, energy, wastes and resource management, surveying, arboriculture and forestry. Only professional members of recognised institutions are eligible to register.
The aim is to ensure that professionals whose activities have an impact on the environment exercise their skills and knowledge to minimise harmful effects using established best practice and innovative new approaches.
To find out more about becoming a CEnv or REnvTech - or indeed a licensed professional body, please visit the SocEnv website or speak to our team at the expo.
