I have over 21 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry, working with some of the biggest
construction companies in the UK. I have been running my own engineering company since 2004.
In 2011 I started using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to assist in surveying and ultimately to
enhance my services to my clients. I was the first person in the UK to purchase a SenseFly eBee (a
sophisticated fixed wing UAV) to assist and develop aerial surveying using photogrammetry.
As an Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), I have participated in
a portfolio of prestigious survey & engineering projects including:
- Abberton Reservoir Upsize Scheme
- Hinkley Point C construction project
- The Colchester Garrison upgrade projects
- The Broadland Flood Alleviation Project
- Thames Estuary Asset Management 2100 programme (TEAM2100)
Geocurve, Leading by Innovation and mobile scanning the Thames defences.
Geocurve had to innovate to find a way to accurately survey 185km of Thames defence 12 times in 3 years. I would like to share our exciting journey, lessons learnt, added benefits and why I believe this should be used on other major rivers to help our fight against flooding and rising water levels.
