Laura Knowles is a Senior project manager with the National Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Portfolio at the Environment Agency. Laura is currently leading on the delivery of our new Asset Information Management System for Programme Delivery (AIMSPD). The aim is to modernise how we manage the 6 year FCRM capital programme by introducing new ways of working supported by the best IT tools to ensure we gain the most benefit for every £1 spent. Laura is a professional project manager with over 10 years’ experience working in FCRM at the Environment Agency. She applies this wealth of experience alongside the extensive network she has developed to all projects she delivers. Laura has recently spoken at the Institute of Water Engineering Conference and also to the Women’s Engineering Society on the road map to whole life asset management.
Achieving whole life asset management
Can we ever deliver value and efficiency until we look at the life of an asset from beginning to end? The EA 6 Year Capital Programme is valued at £2.3 billion. Although a national programme it’s delivered locally, which is challenging. Our Asset Management strategy made whole life management a top priority. This session will walk through the EA’s journey to this point on achieving a whole life approach.
