Sun Yan Evans
Sun Yan Evans MICE MCIWEM CEng is a Technical Director at Mott MacDonald, a global consultancy. She is a technical reviewer for CIWEM and is a member of the EA/Defra/Welsh Government R&D Theme Advisor Group on Incident Modelling and Management.
She has over 30 years’ UK and overseas engineering experience and is a recognised expert in river and coastal flood modelling and management, water quality modelling, real time forecasting, decision support systems, flood resilience and expert witness. She has published or presented over 30 technical papers and is lead or co-author of four books on water quality and flood management.
Recently, EDF, Mott MacDonald and the Met Office jointly produced a series of technical volumes on the risks and effects of natural hazards to infrastructure. Sun Yan is lead author for two of the volumes on Coastal Flooding and River Flooding. These are available on the IMechE website.
Enabling Resilient UK Energy Infrastructure
Sun Yan will talk about the exciting “Enabling Resilient UK Energy Infrastructure: Natural Hazard Characterisation’ project funded by the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI). She will outline the project’s aim, its 12 technical volumes and five case studies produced jointly by EDF Energy, Mott MacDonald, and Met Ofﬁce, and its benefits to owners, operators, asset managers, developers, and investors in planning infrastructure and building resilience to natural hazards and climate change.
